The French coach will appear at the World Championship for the third time
The former coach of the Saudi Arabian national team, French Herve Renard, is close to returning to training for the 2026 World Cup through the Tunisian national team.
Press reports have confirmed the dismissal of the coach of the Tunisian national team, Sabri Lamouchi, after the Carthage Eagles’ heavy defeat to Sweden in the first round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a score of 1-5.
Despite several names being put forward, French journalist Romain Molina has confirmed that Renard will be the new coach of the Tunisian national team at the 2026 World Cup, replacing Sabri Lamouchi.
Molina wrote in his personal user account of the “X” website that the French coach will be the new coach of the Tunisian national team, if there is no turn of events in the next few hours.
The French journalist has confirmed that the Tunisian football federation has offered Renard a project that will extend beyond the 2026 World Cup and has given him guarantees that will ensure he stays out of the World Cup.
Tunisia will be the third team coached by Herve Renard at the World Cup, after he led Morocco in the 2018 World Cup and Saudi Arabia in 2022.
Renard was close to playing again with the Saudi Arabian team at the 2026 World Cup, but two months before the start of the tournament, he was removed from his position and replaced by Greek coach Giorgos Donis.
It is noteworthy that the Tunisian national team has 2 matches left in the World Cup, because next Sunday morning, before the meeting with the Netherlands, they will meet their Japanese counterpart in the third and last round of the group stage at dawn on Friday.
