After Mitchell’s injury, Quirke received England’s call-up to the Nations Championship

Scrum-half Raffy Quirke has been called up to the England squad for next Saturday’s Nations Championship match against Argentina.

Quirke, who has signed for Newcastle Red Bulls following his move from Sale Sharks, replaces the injured Alex Mitchell, who was forced off with a hamstring injury on Saturday. 73-8 win over Fiji In Liverpool

The 24-year-old was replaced by Mitchell in this year’s Six Nations squad, again ruled out through injury.

Quirke has two international caps, becoming England’s youngest scrum-half in more than 90 years when he made his debut in 2021.

He also lined out for England XV against France XV in a Nations Championship warm-up in France last month.

Leicester’s Jacques van Poortvliet and Bath’s Ben Spencer are other options in coach Steve Borthwick’s position for England’s final Test of the summer at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero.
