Amazing goal for the Pharaohs star
Egypt national team star Emam Ashour won the man of the match award after he led the Pharaohs to a valuable 1-1 draw against Belgium at the start of the teams’ 2026 World Cup campaign.
Ashour had one of his best games for Egypt after opening the scoring in the 19th minute with a rocket from outside the penalty area that went past goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to give Egypt the lead in the first half.
The Pharaohs star’s goal impressed followers around the world, with statistics network Squawka describing the match as perhaps… “Most important goals of the tournament so far”After he made a great shot that Courtois couldn’t deal with.
Although Belgium managed to equalize in the second half thanks to a mistaken own goal by Mohamed Hani, Imam Ashour’s performance gave them the edge in the race for the Man of the Match award.
Ashour’s goal was historic as it was his first international goal for the Egyptian national team and he became the fourth Egyptian player to score in World Cup history after Abdel Rahman Fawzi, Magdi Abdel Ghani and Mohamed Salah.
Egypt’s national team picked up a crucial point against the top seed in Group Four, boosting their chances of qualifying ahead of their next two matches against Iran and New Zealand.
