After ditching Mahrez… Al-Ahly are set to include Mohamed Salah

Will Al-Raqi manage to complete the deal?

Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahly have begun their pursuit of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, one of the most hotly anticipated potential deals in the summer transfer window, following the official departure of Algerian Riyad Mahrez.

And according to Sky Sports NetworkAl-Ahly officials have inquired about the sporting and financial terms needed to complete the Egyptian national team captain’s contract as part of the club’s plan to strengthen their attacking line ahead of the start of the new season.

The move comes after Al-Ahly reached an agreement with Riyad Mahrez to terminate his contract early by mutual consent, a deal that cost the club around €14.5m, leaving the player free to move to any club.

The network explains that with Mahrez gone, Al-Ahly are looking for a new star to lead the team’s attacking project, and despite the management’s interest in signing German Karim Adeyemi, Mohamed Salah’s name has a different status and is considered one of the biggest targets on the club’s table.

He explained that Al-Ahli have so far been content to take the pulse of Salah’s position and reveal his financial and sporting demands without reaching any agreement as negotiations are still at an early stage.

Mohamed Salah is considered to be one of the most high-profile historical targets for Saudi League clubs, having been linked with moves to the competition from Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal in recent years, making his file one of the most anticipated files in this summer’s Mercato.
