The Portuguese coach is leaving after a string of disastrous results
Al-Ittihad recently officially announced that they have terminated the contract of Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao by mutual consent, a move that ended a short but highly controversial period within the club, after which reactions from Al-Amid fans at Stand X were widely divided between support and anger.
The decision, which came after an apparent decline in results and fluctuating performance recently, did not end the debate in the Federal Chamber, but opened a new door to public division over whether layoffs are the real solution to the crisis or just another cycle of a series of iterative changes without addressing the roots.

A large section of Al-Ittihad fans believed that the decision to terminate the contract was “too late”, given that Conceição’s continuation would further complicate the team’s technical and psychological situation.
A number of fans tweeted via X that the team had lost its identity on the pitch and that the performance in key games was unconvincing, stressing that “a change of coach is a necessary step to restore discipline”.
Supporters of the decision also noted that the team needed a “technical shake-up” that would reshuffle the playing cards at the start of next season.
On the other hand, there was a wave of anger and reservations among another section of Al-Ittihad fans, who saw Conceicao’s dismissal as nothing more than a “repetition of the same usual scenario” within the club.
This popular movement placed most of the responsibility on the administration, be it in terms of contract matters, technical stability or even the management of the dressing room, considering that a change of coach alone will not solve the crisis.
Some on Twitter said the team had a clear structural flaw and that “continually changing coaches” would not make for a successful project, but would rather increase the instability within the club.
With Conceicao’s departure, Al-Ittihad enters a new phase full of anticipation as fans await the identity of the next coach and his ability to quickly get the team back on track, amid unrelenting public and media pressure.

The most important question remains on Federal Street. Was Conceição’s departure the real solution to the crisis or just the beginning of a new chapter in the same spiral?
