After being eliminated from the World Cup, the Moroccan star bid farewell to his team

Moroccan star Elias Akhomache sent a farewell message to the fans of Spain’s Rayo Vallecano today, Saturday, after their season ended with a 1-0 loss to English side Crystal Palace in the Europa Conference League final.

Akhomash will thus return to his original team, Villarreal, for the next edition of the Champions League, given the end of his loan spell at Vallecano.

“Rayo fans, the time has come for us to say goodbye. It was a short trip, but it will leave an impact on me forever.”

He continued. “I arrived in January with great enthusiasm and I leave feeling proud to have defended these colors. I hope I made you enjoy it as much as I did.”

The 22-year-old football player continued. “We were on the verge of achieving something historic in Leipzig (the European Conference title), but this journey has taught me, as you said:

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to this wonderful group of colleagues, the technical staff and you, the fans, for all your kindness and support. I leave feeling like another member of the family. Goodbye always.”

Notably, Morocco coach Mohamed Wehbe has left Akhumash out of his final squad for the 2026 World Cup, which kicks off in less than two weeks.
