After Al-Ahli… Al-Nasr president announces his resignation

“Al Alami” is entering a new phase

Al-Nasr Club president Abdullah Al-Majed has followed the lead of his Al-Ahli counterpart Khaled Al-Ghamdi and officially announced his resignation.

Media reports have confirmed that Al-Ahly chairman Khaled Al-Ghamdi has decided to step down from his position to run for president of the Saudi Arabian Football Association, replacing former president Yasser Al-Mashal.

A few hours later, Abdullah Al-Majed announced his departure from Al-Nasr Club after the end of his regular term at the helm of the Saudi club and his unwillingness to continue working for the upcoming period.

Al-Majed wrote through his personal account on the “X” website. “If clubs have fans, then “Al-Nasr” has fans. His position in their hearts does not change when they change location.”

He announced. “Today, I am leaving the chair of the president after the end of the statutory period, and based on my practical circumstances, I do not want to continue the period of automatic extension of the company system.”

He added: “I lived a period with unforgettable memories, immortal moments and declared and hidden challenges that culminated in the most difficult league reaching its end.”

“Thanks to God first and last and then to you loyal fans who were patient and victorious. I am grateful to my colleagues on the board of directors, honorary members, technical and administrative staff, players and all committees and boards for their efforts during a time full of stories of loyalty and belonging.”

“I will return to the yellow stadium as I was. As for my votes for the next administration, they will go to the Al-Nasr fans and I will support any candidate that you see as the ideal choice for the club and I am certainly the first supporter of anyone who will serve Nasr.”

Some reports have revealed that there is a trend to eliminate the position of chairman of the non-profit organization for the Al-Nasr, Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad clubs owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund to put it up for sale in the coming period.

Notably, Abdullah Al-Majed has taken over the chairmanship of Al-Nasr Club for the past two seasons and led it to the Saudi Roshan League title after a 7-year absence.
