After 5 years in London… Arsenal decides the fate of its Egyptian talent

Cameron Ismail is out for the Gunners

Young Egyptian defender Cameron Ismail’s journey with Arsenal has officially come to an end after the London club named him on their departure list this summer.

In an official statement, the Gunners announced the departure of 15 male and female players at the end of their contracts on June 30, 2026, and Ismail was among them.

“Arsenal” thanked the Egyptian defender for his time at the club’s academy, stressing: “We offer our sincere thanks to all the players who are leaving us for their contribution to the club. You will remain a permanent member of the Arsenal family and we wish you good health and happiness in your future.”

Ismail, who plays as a left-back, joined the Gunners academy in the summer of 2021, coming from the youth sector and spent five years within the club’s walls.

Despite signing his first professional contract with the Gunners last summer, he did not get a chance in the Under-21 team last season.

The Egyptian international, who previously joined Egypt’s youth team, had a brief loan spell with lower-division side Uxbridge this season, looking for the game minutes he couldn’t find in London.

With his departure, Ismail closes a chapter in his early European career and begins to look for a new station that will allow him to prove that he is far from Arsenal’s academy.
