Africa semi-final for juniors. Senegal defeated Morocco in Rabat and Tanzania defeated Egypt

Morocco and Egypt bid farewell to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations after losing to Senegal and Tanzania in the semi-finals on Thursday night.

The Moroccan team lost on penalties to their Senegal team (7-6) after the main time ended in a positive draw (1-1) in the match held at the Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

The Senegal side took advantage of Atlas Cubs defensive confusion and took the lead through Mohamed Faq in the 23rd minute, and the hosts tried to get back on the scoreboard with several attacking opportunities.

In the 41st minute, Adam Lackey scored for Morocco before the match referee intervened and disallowed it after going back to VAR.

In the second half, the Moroccan team continued to press for an equaliser, with Amine Mostash almost scoring in the 62nd minute and Brahim Al-Rabaj missing another chance in the 74th minute.

Ismail Al-Oudy managed to save Morocco with a deadly goal from the penalty spot in stoppage time in the 9th minute, so the game came down to penalties, which ultimately smiled on the Senegal team.

In the other semi-final, Egypt’s under-17 team lost to Tanzania (4-3) on penalties after the match ended in a goalless draw.

The two teams failed to score in regular time before a penalty shoot-out decided Tanzania’s qualification, setting up a date with Senegal in the final of the tournament.
