Adobe’s redesigned AI studio remembers what your creations look like

Adobe is bringing some new features to its Firefly AI assistant, along with a “redesigned” AI studio that lets you edit and create new designs from a single interface. The new Firefly experience that is launching today in private beta is designed to provide you with “consistent expressions, reusable objects, and workflows” for all your projects, according to Adobe, making it easy to go from concept to design to production without changing between programs.

This is the latest in a series of Adobe’s all-in-one designs Firefly AI hub since its first launch in September 2023. In addition to UI updates, the new Firefly AI studio introduces two new features aimed at improving design consistency and making projects easier to maintain.

The first is “Elements,” which allows you to save characters, locations, and objects you’ve already created for reuse on Firefly and Firefly Boards. This means you can upload pictures of characters or places and give them a name, so you can tell Firefly to create scenes in “Charlie’s bedroom” without bothering to write the usual descriptions and hope that the chatbot will stick to the same design. The second section is “Projects,” which keeps your assets, generations, and creative activities together so it’s easy to organize and pick up where you left off.

The Firefly AI assistant that Adobe launched in beta earlier this year, which allows you to create and edit objects using descriptive logic, is also getting new tools and features. It can now create brand materials, including logos and color sheets, based on your company name definition and style. There are also some new video editing skills, such as Quick Cut to quickly combine sections into polished clips that you can edit – features that it arrived in the Firefly program in February. The Firefly AI assistant can also create captions to help watch video clips, and convert photos into short videos, allowing you to turn those captions into video when needed.

The idea is that this ability to communicate will help designers cut out some of the tedium of editing and production, not to mention improving creativity. You can start a project with the Firefly AI assistant and then edit it manually in Firefly or one of Adobe’s many Creative Cloud apps. According to Forest Key, Adobe’s vice president of AI for technology and productivity, Adobe wants to make Firefly a “partner” than something that can replace many human tasks and conversations, but it all depends on the user.

“Does this all end with people just speaking English to devices? I think for some users, absolutely. For other users, no,” Key said. Seaside. “Manufacturing has many processes, and the idea is that the agent can meet the users but they want to work with the agent.”
