The president of “Real” announced that he “will not resign”, but he will have to do so if he wants to participate in the elections.
Although Real Madrid president Florentino Perez opened his controversial press conference with a clear statement. “I will not resign” He is now forced to step down temporarily to be able to contest the election, in a scenario that echoes that of Joan Laporta, his colleague at rivals Castle Barcelona, a few weeks ago.
“I am sorry to say that I will not be resigningWith these words, Peres opened his press conference in front of the media yesterday, Tuesday, and immediately afterwards announced that he has asked the board of directors to start the procedures for holding the club’s presidential elections.
These elections will see the candidacy of Florentino Pérez himself, although his current term is extended until 2029, which means he must first resign in order to run as an official candidate, writes Mundo Deportivo newspaper.
The current president of “Barcelona”, Laporta, submitted his resignation from his position to participate in the elections held last March, knowing that it was decided in his favor.
The newspaper inquired whether Peres will face a rival in the election campaign this time or whether he will continue to hold office by acclamation.
The duration of the election process depends on the official date of announcing the election call.
If there is one candidate, as happened in the previous elections of “Real Madrid”, the procedures for declaring a new president will not last more than 15 days.
In case of participation of more than one candidate, the election process can be extended up to one month.
Currently, Florentino Perez remains the only person who has officially announced his intention to run.
Yesterday, the “Marca” newspaper published the conditions for running for the position of the president of the Royal Club, which are:
