Saudi Arabia defender Abdul-Ilah Al-Omari has confirmed that Al-Akhdar deserved to win their 2026 World Cup match against Uruguay.
Al-Omari scored the only goal for Saudi Arabia in the match with Uruguay (1-1).Today, Tuesday, at dawn, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, USA, in the first round of the group stage.
Al-Omari said in a statement to the Qatari beIN Sports TV channel after the match. “The point is positive. But we wanted to get three points. We deserved to win, but thank God anyway.”
“I can’t describe the feeling of scoring a goal, especially coming in the World Cup, and I hope the next one will be better.”
Notably, Al-Omari became the 10th Saudi player to score in the World Cup in history, and also became the first center back to score for Al-Akhdar in the World Cup.
