A suspect in the Monaco package bombing has been identified

A suspect in the Monaco bombing that seriously injured a Ukrainian multi-millionaire and two other people has been found under investigation.

According to the Monaco Prosecutor’s Office, an arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect, who is a foreign national and is not currently in Monaco. He added that an Interpol Red Notice will be issued.

On Monday night, a man was seen on video surveillance leaving a package in the entrance hall of a building in Monaco. Shortly after, an explosion occurred, injuring three people as they entered.

Authorities say the incident is being investigated as an attempted murder, not a terrorist attack.

A suspect was seen fleeing to the French commune of Beausoleil after an explosion at an apartment building near the French border in Monaco.

While the suspect, who was wearing a black hoodie, was initially thought to be a man, the person of interest turned out to be a woman who was trying to hide her identity, local media reported.

Monaco’s public prosecutor, Stéphane Thibault, did not comment on the case, but thanked the police from Monaco and France for their cooperation “in particular in the short time it took to identify the suspect”.

“The suspect has been issued an arrest warrant and will be subject to an Interpol red notice as of this evening,” the Monaco prosecutor’s office said late Thursday.

Thibault said he would provide an update around 12:00 (10:00 GMT) on Friday.
