antiquities Dutch midfielder Frankie de Jong Barcelona are in a state of worry after he picked up a serious knee injury that could keep him out for a long time.
The Spanish “Marca” newspaper reports. The start of the pre-season was not ideal for Barcelona, as a number of first-team players underwent routine medicals on Monday ahead of the start of preparations.
Not all players were present, after those who took part in the World Cup, they rested for a few days. However, both Ronald Araujo and Frankie de Jong were present at Barcelona’s facilities, but the latter received the bad news.
According to the newspaper, the Dutch football player has a serious knee injury, while there is no final diagnosis yet, as the midfielder will undergo additional tests in the coming days.
Despite this, anxiety is at an all-time high in Barcelona, with worst-case-scenario fears mounting, and a few months’ absence from the stadiums cannot be ruled out, with estimates suggesting he could be out for up to 4 months.
There is still no official statement from Barcelona regarding the injury, as we will have to wait for the official medical report to be released once the final diagnosis is confirmed, which will not happen until the player has completed all the necessary tests, but the current indicators do not look encouraging.
De Jong has dealt with a number of injuries in recent years, with him missing nearly two months last season with a hamstring injury that occurred at a crucial stage of the season between late February and early April.
Prior to that, he suffered an ankle injury that forced him to stop the game twice, for a total of 6 months, during which he missed 31 matches.
