The trio of pharaohs is injured
The doctor of Egypt’s first national football team, Mohamed Abu El-Ela, resolved the controversies surrounding the health status of the injured trio, Mohamed Salah, Ahmed Fatouh and Mohamed Abdel Moneim, at the end of the World Cup group stage match against Iran, which ended in a draw (1-1).
Abu El-Ela, in a statement on the Egyptian Federation’s official Facebook page, revealed that the Pharaohs captain is suffering from a back muscle strain, while Fatou is in danger of missing the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 decider against Australia next Friday.
Abu Al-Ela explained that the X-rays Salah underwent after experiencing pain that forced him to leave the pitch against Iran confirmed he had a back muscle strain, noting that the Egyptian star had already started his treatment plan in preparation for Australia.
On the other hand, the national team doctor revealed the serious development of Ahmed Fatu’s injury as medical tests revealed that he suffered a torn hamstring, making it extremely difficult for him to play in the Australia match, a painful blow to the Hossam Hasan-led coaching staff.
As for Mohamed Abdel Moneim, he suffered a serious bruise on his ankle, but Abu El-Ela reassured fans about his condition, stressing that the medical staff are working to prepare him for the same confrontation, noting that his injury is less serious than that of his two colleagues.
The developments come as Egypt prepare for a crucial clash against the Australian Socceroos as the coaching staff leans heavily on Salah and Abdel Moneim to boost their chances of qualifying for the round of 16, while looking for alternatives to compensate for Fatouh’s potential absence.
