A prisoner has been arrested after escaping during a hospital transfer.

Police have arrested a prisoner who escaped while being transferred from Security Hospital to North Manchester Hospital on Tuesday evening.

Marwan Jumaa, 20, is being held at Lancashire Constabulary, Greater Manchester Police said in the early hours of Friday.

Detective Supt Nicola McCulloch said in a statement: “An observant Lancashire Constabulary officer recognized Jumaa and acted quickly to arrest him.” “He will now return to a safe hospital facility.”

Officers are appealing for information after Jumaa, who is being held indefinitely for assaulting two women, ran away during a transfer to hospital. He is described as dangerous to others and himself.

The public has been warned not to approach him, but instead to contact the authorities.

McCulloch continued: “This was a fast-paced investigation involving a significant number of officers and resources from Greater Manchester Police.

“I would like to thank the community for their support following our petition. Our call handlers received a lot of information from the community and helped us find Juma’a.”

“We are extremely grateful for your support during this investigation.”
