Saudi Arabia’s coaching staff received a morale boost ahead of the 2026 World Cup after Nawaf Al-Aqidi completed his treatment program and entered the final stages of rehabilitation, bringing him closer to a return to group training.
Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya reported from team sources that Al-Aqidi had successfully completed his treatment program and entered the final qualifying round following an injury that ruled him out of the final training camp.
The newspaper explained that the medical and fitness systems have activated the rehabilitation program that Al-Aqidi underwent in recent days to speed up his recovery to full fitness before the start of the World Cup.
Greece coach Georgios Donis is monitoring the progress of the goalkeeper’s health every day through detailed medical reports, given Al-Aqidi’s importance as one of the main options in the goalkeeper position.
Sources, on the other hand, have ruled out Al-Aqidi’s participation in Wednesday’s dawn friendly against Senegal, the Greens’ last test before the World Cup, as the decision comes as a precautionary measure to avoid any setbacks, with a gradual return coming soon after the game.
