A painful blow…a serious injury that keeps Mitrovic out for 3 months

He fell during training

Today, Thursday, the technical staff of the Qatari club “Al Rayyan” received a strong blow at the beginning of the preparations for the new season after the announcement of the injury of its Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The club issued an official statement, which says: “Our player Aleksandar Mitrovic injured the lateral ligament of his left leg as a result of a strong attack during team training.”

Al-Rayyan explained that the medical tests proved that the Serbian striker should stay away from the field for two to three months as he is now undergoing an integrated treatment and rehabilitation program under the supervision of the technical and medical staff to ensure a full recovery and a quick return.

31-year-old Mitrovic joined the ranks of “Al Rayyan” in September 2025, appearing from Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal and played 14 matches with the team, during which he scored 7 goals and 4 assists.

The Serbian striker is regarded as one of the most high-profile signings in Qatari football history, following a busy career at Al Hilal in which he scored 68 goals and provided 15 assists in 79 games, before scoring 111 goals in 206 games for Fulham.

It is noteworthy that “Al Rayyan” under the leadership of its new coach Luca Catani is currently in a training camp in Spain, which drew 3:0 against England’s Rochdale in a friendly match.
