This week the US Space Force added two more companies to the list of potential buyers for its contracts – Impulse Space and Relativity Space. For the rocket company, entering the lucrative US military market is a sign of maturity, and an important source of revenue.
The inclusion of Relativity Space, which is making significant progress in launching its Terran R rocket, is perhaps not so surprising. Under the leadership of former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, the company continues to bring a reusable rocket to launch.
The addition of Impulse Space, however, was something of a surprise. The company specializes in building spacecraft to operate in space, rather than launching from Earth.
