On Saturday, around 2:06 pm ET, a meteor traveled over the northeastern US and exploded north of Cape Cod Bay. Fireball was to be caught on camera in several peoplebuildings were shaken, and could be seen clearly inside satellite imageslighting up the sky.
Some people initially thought that the earthquake happened, but the United States Geological Survey (USGS) he refused thathe says that it was “a clear sense of pleasure from a perceived threat.” In a statement posted on X, NASA explained an event like “a blazing fire…followed by a loud noise.”
The meteor was traveling about 75,000 miles per hour when, according to NASA, it “appears to have broken up about 40 miles northeast of MA and southeast NH.
NASA’s deputy communications director Jennifer Dooren said AFP in a statement, “This fireball was not associated with the current meteor shower, but was a natural phenomenon and not a reentry of space debris or satellites.”
