Abdul Razak Hamdallah embarks on a new challenge with Al-Taawoun after opting to go through a trial that will see him return to the podium without giving up on his dream of continuing to make history in the Saudi Arabian Professional League.
The Moroccan star has 156 goals to his name and needs just five goals to equal the record held by the competition’s all-time top scorer, Syrian Omar Al-Souma.
Despite the importance of this individual achievement, the Moroccan striker stressed that his priority remains to lead Al-Taawoun to challenge for titles, stressing that the team has the capabilities to go far in the 2026-2027 season.
Hamdallah said that Al-Taawun is capable of competing with big clubs, adding: “We have a big team that can fight for the championship, especially the continental championship, which will be a goal for many teams, but we will fight for it and why not win it and represent the Kingdom in the best way possible.”
Al-Taawoon is looking to return to the podiums he missed out on by winning the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup in 2019, after coming close to a second AFC Champions League title two seasons ago but exiting the tournament in the semi-finals in the dying moments.
Hamdallah enters a new chapter with Al-Taaouin, recalling memories of his previous success alongside his Moroccan compatriots, featuring alongside Noureddine Amrabat at Al-Nasr, then with Karim Al-Ahmadi at Al-Ittihad, before starting a new endeavor alongside Ashraf El Mahdiou.
Al-Taawan have a solid record in the Saudi Arabian Professional League as they enter their seventeenth appearance next season, equaling the number of appearances of their leading rivals, but surpassing them by 119 points combined in the competition’s history.
The team also finished in sixth place last season, securing their place in the AFC Champions League 2.

Hamdallah expressed his great satisfaction after joining Al-Taawun, stressing that each of them suits the other at this stage of his career, noting that the training camp is going according to plan.

Al-Taawoun will open their campaign in the Saudi Roshen League on August 15 against Al-Khalij, and will conclude their training camp in Merlo, Holland on July 30, with two friendlies against Helmond Sport of the Netherlands and Eupen of Belgium.
