A matter of life or death. Henry reveals his conversation with the Arsenal star before the Atletico game.

France’s Thierry Henry, Arsenal legend, has praised England’s Bukayo Saka, the Gunners star who took his team to the Champions League final for the first time in 20 years.

Saka has not regained full fitness since returning from a long injury lay-off, but he featured in the first half of Fulham’s last Premier League match, scoring once and assisting in a 3-0 victory to take Arsenal a step closer to a title they have missed since 2004.

He also played just around 60 minutes against Atletico Madrid and scored the only goal of the match, confirming that his return from injury was the perfect time for the Gunners.

Speaking on CBS, Henry said: “I would like to see if we can speak to Bukayo because I want him to explain to people that being a footballer is not always about glamorous times.”

“There have been doubts about him throughout the season. Is he the main player or not? Is he a rising star or not? Is she better than him or not? He had to play today after very little training. I know he has an Achilles tendon injury.”

He continued. I spoke to him recently and he told me I have to play against Fulham. I should be. “It is a matter of life and death.”

He continued. “So we have to give these players a lot of credit. Sometimes we take it for granted. We all played with injuries. We all played at times when we weren’t up to our full potential and he had to do that and provide the game Arsenal needed.

Henry was also keen to praise the performance of striker Victor Goukeris, who missed a golden chance in the second half but still wore down Atletico’s defense at the Emirates Stadium.

He added: “If we take the example of Gokeris, he had a suspended sentence. It’s not a bad thing, it has to be accepted. Try to prove people wrong. And he did it tonight.”

The Gunners legend added: “Not just tonight, but last month I’ll give him credit.” “He’s running, he looks strong, he’s as close to a number nine as you can be.”

“I also like how they look for him early, playing to a player’s strengths, because if they don’t, I’ll see his weaknesses instead of seeing his strengths.”
