A loud surprise in Morocco’s World Cup roster


The technical staff of the teams that qualified for the finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup have intensified their preparations in recent months to select the best group of players who can represent their countries at the highest possible level in the world’s biggest football event.

According to the Moroccan “Le360” website, in the preliminary list sent by the Moroccan national team to the International Football Federation (FIFA), the star of the French “Lille” club, the rising talent Ayoub Bouad, was among the contenders for the next World Cup.

The same source clarified that the youngster has not yet decided on his international future, but initial indications are that he is receptive to the idea of ​​representing Morocco, expecting his decision to be made in the next few days.

FIFA announced in an official statement that each team will be allowed to include 26 players in its final roster, the same as confirmed for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, noting that the official lists of the 48 participating teams will be released on Tuesday, June 2.

FIFA has clarified that the preliminary lists will include between 35 and 55 players, including at least four goalkeepers, and will be used for internal purposes only without being officially published.

He also confirmed that the final rosters will range between 23 and 26 players and should include at least three goalkeepers.

The International Federation stated that any player on the final list can only be replaced by another from the preliminary list, in case of serious injury or serious illness, 24 hours before the team’s first match, while a goalkeeper is allowed to be substituted at any time during the competition if he suffers an injury or illness that prevents him from participating.
