A fan could add ‘just kidding’ to England’s World Cup winners after defeat.

An England fan who was convinced that the Three Lions would win the World Cup decided to get a huge tattoo in celebration of the “victory” with the words “just kidding” underneath.

Shane Carrington said the group’s D.R. After beating Congo, he received a £550 football trophy with the words “England World Cup Winner 2026”.

But he, along with millions of other fans, was left cursing another disappointing England exit after their semi-final defeat by Argentina on Wednesday night.

The 36-year-old from Wigan, Greater Manchester said he has no regrets about his actions and is now thinking about how to make amends.

However, he said he was glad he had rowed his first plan – which had “Coming Home” emblazoned across his chest.

Sean, who watched the game at Manchester’s Depot Mayfield Fanzone, said “it was a roar” when England took the lead through Anthony Gordon’s 55th-minute goal.

“The atmosphere was crazy until the end. But we sat back and gave it a go,” he said.

“It was disappointing – it was very flat.”

As for the tattoo, he said: “Maybe I’ll add ‘just kidding’ to it.”
