A ‘disruptive’ passenger has died on a Jet2 flight to Manchester

A man accused by passengers of assaulting another passenger and crew on a Jet2 flight has died.

Police were called to reports that a passenger on a Jet2 flight from Cyprus to Manchester had assaulted another customer and staff member and become “rowdy and violent” in the early hours of Monday.

When he landed at Manchester Airport, officers used handcuffs to arrest Calum Kerr, 35, from Warrington, but found him quickly “unresponsive” and performed CPR before taking him to hospital, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

Bare-arm fighter Kerr died on Tuesday. An investigation into his death is underway.

Friends of Kerr paid tribute, saying: “Calm was a family man, father of three beautiful young children, sports lover and a heart of gold.”

GMP said the police made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) after meeting with Kerr before his death.

The force said officers were called just before 02:30 BST on Monday to reports of a man behaving aggressively towards passengers and crew on a flight from Larnaca to Manchester and assaulting passengers and cabin crew.

When the plane arrived, the officers boarded and found Kerr, who was being held back by passengers and crew in the back of the plane.
