After years of health struggles, parasites have now changed in Lowry’s mind.
“I didn’t have any surgery to get it out of my brain,” she said. “Apparently they die and basically mutate. So this time they’re called.”
Dr Hayley Lowry said they had undergone treatment to “kill all the eggs and happily it seems to be on the other side now”.
As of 2017, she has not had a seizure, but will remain on seizure medication for the rest of her life.
Lori, who now lives in Cardiff, said she was determined that something positive would come out of her ordeal.
“What I want to do now is to improve in my life and spread awareness of this disease and do something positive about it,” she said.
“You never know what’s around. … I’m just happy to be alive and healthy and happy to be fit again and I’m not going to take that for granted.”
