A 28-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Ann Widdecombe


Joshua Carey, 28, has been charged with Ann Widdecombe’s murder and will appear in court on Tuesday. The Crown Prosecution Service said.

Police said inquiries into the accused’s motives, including political or terrorist links, are ongoing, the CPS said in a statement.

Widdecombe, 78, a former Conservative minister and spokesman for Reform UK, was found dead at her home in Hightower, Devon, on Thursday 9 July, suffering from severe head injuries.
