A 14-year-old boy has been charged with offenses related to “extreme right-wing terrorism” in connection with a plan to target two mosques in Sutton, south London, the Metropolitan Police said.

The boy was initially arrested on suspicion of motor vehicle offences. Officers who searched the address “found a number of documents of concern”, a Met spokesman said.

He was charged with damaging a car window with intent to damage another person’s property without lawful excuse. The violence has escalated against caste, the force added.
