How does Deku solve the dilemma?
Barcelona face a key date in their sporting and financial planning on Sunday, June 30, as it is the last day to include completed deals in the financial statements for the season, and the last chance to make some deals at a lower price before penalty clauses increase, in addition to the expiry of 4 players’ contracts, forcing the Catalan club to fast-track these fat players before then.
Spanish outlet Marca state that one of the main focuses is player departures, as any additional income is needed to improve the club’s financial situation and gain more flexibility in the summer transfer window, with several names such as Ansu Fati, Rooney, Marc Casado, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Inya being mentioned as potential departure targets.
In Ansu Fati’s case, French side Monaco announced their intention to activate an €11 million buyout option a few days ago, but some details of the deal have yet to be finalized as the two clubs negotiate the percentage Barcelona will keep from any future sale, in addition to the possibility of including a buy-back clause.
As for Mark Casado, his situation is still undecided as the midfielder explores several options before making a final decision on his future, while Ronny Bardaggi is looking to move to the club, initially on loan, to continue his development, but his destination is still undecided.
Ter Stegen’s case is considered one of the most sensitive cases as the German goalkeeper is still one of the most mysterious names and his situation is further complicated by the imminent departure of Ignacy Peña, as the Alicante goalkeeper is now completing procedures to join Greek side Panathinaikos, thus ending his career with Barcelona in a matter of days.
As for upcoming transfers, Jorge Salinas is at the top of Barcelona’s wish list, and the club considers it a strategic move and is working to complete the deal by June 30 purely for financial reasons.
The contracts of 4 players with the club expire next Sunday, as Robert Lewandowski has already said goodbye to Barcelona, while the sports authorities have decided not to activate the clause to buy Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.
The situation is different for Andreas Christensen and Joao Cancelo. The Danish defender has an offer to extend the contract, but the final agreement has not yet been reached.
