500 mln.. “Atletico” refuses to surrender to Alvarez

Atletico Madrid have not changed their stance regarding the departure of their Argentine player Julián Alvarez, who is in the center of attention of Barcelona.

And I mentioned Marca newspaperAtletico Madrid are refusing to budge on Alvarez’s desire to leave, insisting on meeting the full €500m release clause to let the player go.

Alvarez informed the management of “Atletico” Madrid about his desire to leave the club during the summer transfer period.

Atletico were not swayed by leaks from around the player, or reports from Barcelona who believed Atletico should let him leave for a much lower fee, or even statements from Giuliani himself publicly demanding a “transfer” this summer.

The case has seen several developments in recent weeks, including rumors of an alleged offer worth €100m, which has been vehemently denied by Atletico Madrid’s management.

The club’s chief executive, Miguel Angel Gill, also issued a strongly-worded statement in which he criticized Barcelona’s actions, announcing his intention to file a complaint with FIFA, claiming it breached the statute that prohibits negotiating a player’s contract with the club without prior authorization if there are less than six months left on the contract.

So, in light of this complicated scene, which seems far from being resolved, Atletico Madrid remain committed to the contract Alvarez signed two years ago.

The club’s management believe they have control thanks to this contract and therefore have no intention of backing down or entering into any negotiations for the player’s sale, especially with a club like Barcelona who believe they have been taken lightly even before Julian’s desire to leave for the Catalan club became known.
