3 people died in a shooting at the Seattle Bight food festival

Three people were killed and many others were injured. A shooting at a food festival near the Seattle Space Needle on Sunday left others injured, the city’s fire department said.

Mayor Kathy Wilson said a suspect was shot following an incident in Seattle Center that was hosting the annual Seattle Food Festival over the weekend at 6 p.m.

Seattle Police Assistant Chief Tyrone Davis added that the second suspect fled the scene and has yet to be arrested. He said it is believed the suspects were shooting at each other.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and one person later died in hospital. Officials said that a two-year-old child was injured.

Videos shared online showed people taking shelter in the city’s iconic Space Needle.

People can be seen crouching behind columns and merchandise shelves in the Space Needle lobby during the shooting.

The Seattle Police Department is still investigating and is urging the public to stay away from the area.

“She would like to thank the Seattle police officers who responded to the scene and took the suspect into custody,” Wilson said in a statement.

She initially announced that two suspects had been taken into custody before updating her statement on Sunday evening.

Four of the injured were taken to the hospital in stable condition, while the fifth was in critical condition, the fire department said.
