2026 World Cup: Reece James and Declan Rice have England injury concerns ahead of Panama game.

Reece James missed training against England on Thursday, leaving the Three Lions’ final Group L game against Panama in doubt.

The 26-year-old right-back suffered a muscle strain on the field. They were held to a goalless draw against Ghana on Tuesday. And he did not train with his team-mates in England’s final session ahead of Saturday’s game (22:00 BST).

It remains to be seen whether the Chelsea defender will be fit to start or come off the bench for the final group game at New York’s New Jersey Stadium.

James is a key member of manager Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI and has been selected in both World Cup games so far.

Declan Rice, who left Boston Stadium in the draw against Ghana with a strained left calf, was absent from Thursday’s session at England’s training ground in Kansas City.

However, sources have suggested that the 27-year-old’s average performance is less of a concern.

It remains to be seen if Tuchel is willing to start Rice – especially after the game against Ghana as he is in danger of being suspended in the round of 32.

In Group L, England lead Ghana by one goal over Croatia – They won 4-2 in their first game – At one point.
