England will assess the fitness of Reece James and Declan Rice ahead of their final World Cup group game against Panama.
Rice, 27, walked out of Boston Stadium after England. They were held to a goalless draw against Ghana. on Tuesday with a severe strain on his left calf.
Sources said there was no significant risk that the injury would affect his long-term presence in the United States.
But it is understood the case will require a review and rest before a decision is made for his presence in Panama on Saturday, with England manager Thomas Tuchel and his staff considering the risks of playing him.
The Arsenal midfielder was also ruled out of the match against Croatia with a nerve problem.
James also needs an assessment as England approach Saturday’s match in New Jersey.
The 26-year-old will be monitored by medical staff over the next 24 hours, although he will play the full game against Ghana.
The Chelsea captain has an injury history and his load will be closely monitored.
