2026 World Cup: England’s match against Mexico has been delayed by an hour.

England’s World Cup last 16 match against Mexico has been delayed by an hour due to severe weather and kicks off at 02:00 BST (19:00 local time).

Heavy rain was seen in Mexico City that day and lightning was reported above the Azteca Stadium, which is hosting the game.

The game cannot start until 30 minutes have passed since Lightning was last spotted within an eight-mile radius of the stadium.

FIFA held talks with the English and Mexican football associations after proposing a move to 19:00 BST on Sunday.

The game will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 5 Live and the BBC Sport website and app.
