New Zealand v Ireland: Robert Baluchown starts as Irish recall key men in Nations Championship tie

After picking four debutants in a test squad against Japan last week, Farrell has chosen a squad full of experience – the starting XV boast a combined 711 caps – for the trip to Eden Park.

Hugo Keenan, outstanding against Australia, came back at full-back with the versatile O’Brien moving down the left wing to accommodate Balukown’s return.

Jamie Osborne and Jacob Stockdale, who started on the left wing against Australia and Japan, were left out of the matchday squad.

Gary Ringrose partners McCloskey in midfield after Robbie Henshaw drops out, while Prendergast and Jamieson Gibson-Park renew their half-back pairing.

In the pack, O’Toole returns to the Six Nations with loose-head prop for his fifth consecutive Test start, with three-time British and Irish Lion tight-head furlong and Hooker Sheehan restored to the front row.

Joe McCarthy has been reinstated to the second row alongside Ryan, meaning Byrne – who captained Ireland for the first time last week – moves to blind-side flanker. Open-side Josh van der Flier and number eight Conan complete the back row.

Thirteen of the 15 selected started against Australia, with Balukown and Beirne the only ones left out as Osborne and Cian Prendergast.
