Mohamed Bellomy: Hull City winger earns game-winner to secure slow promotion

It hasn’t been two straight seasons for strikers in English football.

He joined the East Yorkshire club from Portuguese outfit Faroe Islands in August 2024 and ended his season at Oxford in November with an early cruciate ligament injury.

When he returned to action last August, the club sacked Tim Walters and his replacement Ruben Sels and brought in Jakirovic.

He said it took time to get back up to speed after such a serious injury and two hamstring injuries kept him out for four months this campaign.

He started Friday’s scoreless first game and hit the post after two minutes, but Zakirovic said he has not been able to practice since then and started Monday’s game on the bench.

“He was very tired and had fatigue in both his legs and his Achilles, so it was going to give him the second half.” Jackirovic told BBC Radio Humberside.

“It was a great change and a great decision. Now I’m very smart, if you don’t do anything I’m stupid. It’s always like that.

“The chemistry between this group of players is unbelievable.”

Skype Levy Coyle was also appreciative of the player’s win and the club’s medical staff.

“He’s unbelievable. We’re very lucky that we’ve got a lot of players who can make an impact on the game,” he said.

“We all know what that kid is about. I’m really excited about him.

“He’s had an incredibly serious injury but it says a lot about him and his recovery team that he’s come back like he has.”
