Former British No. 1 Jack Draper will have to qualify for the US Open this year as the 2024 semi-finalist is out of a place in the main draw.
Draper is set to return to action after missing Wimbledon from July 27 at the DC Open in Washington due to repeated bone bruises in his left hand.
The injury was the latest setback for the 24-year-old, who has only managed a handful of tournaments since being sidelined from the tour a year ago with the same problem.
Draper’s ranking took a hit as a result, dropping to 147th in the world, requiring him to qualify for the fourth and final Grand Slam of the season.

Two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka and Wimbledon winner Janic Ciner will lead the respective women’s and men’s singles fields in New York.
Sabalenka will look to become the first woman since Serena Williams from 2012-14 to win three US Open titles, while Ciner will try to reclaim the title that 2024 champion Carlos Alcaraz took when they met in last year’s final.
