In the Arab region, Deschamps confirms his “next realistic destination”.

French coach Didier Deschamps is on the verge of ending a historic era, which lasted 14 years at the helm of the French national team. He is set to play his final game for the Roosters tomorrow, Saturday, against England in the 2026 World Cup third-place match, while all eyes are on his next destination, which could be the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

French newspaper Le Parisien have detailed that Deschamps is seriously considering his future options after his stint with the Roosters ends, noting that the veteran French coach has not ruled out a job in Saudi Arabia, but sees it as his “next realistic destination”, whether in charge of the Saudi national team or managing a local club.

The French outlet explained that Deschamps has already been approached by the Saudi side in recent years, making this option more realistic than others, especially as the Saudi Arabian Football Association has yet to decide the fate of its current Greek coach, Georgios Donis, who led the Greens to a disappointing run that ended in an early exit from the current World Cup group stage.

However, the outlet confirmed that Deschamps has yet to make a final decision on his future and that he will consider his options after his official farewell to France on Sunday, saying he wants to end his career with the Roosters on a high note before announcing any further moves.

Deschamps’ departure comes in light of widespread criticism, with many holding him responsible for France’s crushing 0-2 World Cup semi-final defeat to Spain, where France put in a dull and disappointing performance despite a wonderful journey and the excellent level the team had shown in previous games throughout the tournament.
