Former general secretary Ian Alves was found guilty of abusing women by members of the FIFA Ethics Committee.

FIFA’s independent Ethics Committee has banned former Guyana Football Federation (GFF) general secretary Ian Alves from all football-related activities for five years after he was found guilty of raping women.
FIFA also fined Alves 20,000 Swiss francs ($25,500) after it was found to have breached the FIFA Code of Ethics regarding physical and mental safety, abuse of power and duties.
“FIFA has a strict policy against all forms of violence in football,” the sport’s governing body said on Monday.
The decision followed the review of written statements from the victims, documents provided by the GFF, documents from Alves, and other evidence collected during the investigation.
Alves left his position in 2024.
The ban came into effect on Monday, when Alves was informed of the decision, and all the reasons for the decision will be explained within 60 days in accordance with the Code of Ethics, FIFA added.
