O’Neill has come out of retirement not once but twice this season to save Celtic.
The 74-year-old won seven trophies during his first spell at Celtic between 2000-05, including three league titles.
O’Neill had been out of administration for more than six years when he got the emergency call to replace Rogers.
Under his leadership, Celtic have won 5 league games in a row and have a game in hand against Hearts.
Then he had to do everything again.
Four weeks after saying goodbye, O’Neill was back and Hearts were six points clear, with both sides 20 games into the campaign.
Rangers are in second place with five of seven rounds remaining, with Celtic losing to Dundee United in Tannadice. O’Neal said he needs seven wins to earn the opportunity. He delivered the first six.
McInnes finished ninth in the Premier League last season, two places below Hearts.
His time at Aberdeen ended his three-year run as Celtic’s winner.
His silverware has been overshadowed by O’Neill but Hearts have their own wise master in the background, with Sir Alex Ferguson guiding the McInnes.
The latest man to break the Old Firm duopoly has been spotted in maroon style at Tynecastle and regularly links up with the Hearts boss.
