Amazing decision from FIFA.. Argentina is free to repeat "The controversial incident"

An act that angers London

Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has ended the controversy surrounding the Argentina national team’s ‘Falkland Islands are Argentine’ banner after giving Argentina the green light if they win the 2026 World Cup final against Spain tomorrow, Sunday.

Britain’s Sky Sports has learned that soccer’s world governing body has given its approval, deeming Argentina’s players allowed to express their opinions, according to task force chief Andrew Giuliani, despite FIFA regulations banning any political demonstrations in stadiums during the tournaments it organizes.

The Argentina national team sparked widespread controversy after raising a banner on the pitch that said “Falkland Islands are Argentine” following their 2026 World Cup semi-final win over England, in apparent breach of FIFA regulations.

The UK is demanding a full investigation

The flag incident has taken a political turn since last Wednesday, with the United Kingdom demanding a full investigation into the incident, while Argentina president Javier Mele said he understood his players’ position.

The Falkland Islands, a British archipelago 600 kilometers off the coast of Argentina, remain a sensitive issue in relations between London and Buenos Aires, which have disputed their sovereignty for decades.

After Argentina’s invasion of the archipelago in 1982, a bloody war broke out between the two countries, and British forces recaptured the Falkland Islands after 74 days of fighting, which resulted in heavy losses of 649 Argentine and 255 British casualties.

Milly changes her position and supports the players

Argentine President Javier Milli initially appeared to downplay the situation, saying on Wednesday: “Let’s not make a big deal out of it. The Falkland Islands will be restored through wise diplomacy, not cheap patriotic gestures.”

But Mele quickly changed his stance and declared his full support for the players, explaining that the feeling for the Falkland Islands was “a feeling shared by all Argentinians and they have every right to express it”.

The head of state confirmed. “Indeed, the Falkland Islands are Argentine and we will recover them, but we will do so diplomatically and wisely in our movements,” in a statement that reflected the delicate balance of supporting the players and maintaining diplomatic relations.
