A person has died after jumping over a fence at an airport in the US state of Colorado and being shot down by a Frontier Airlines flight, according to authorities.
Denver International Airport said the unusual incident happened late Friday, when an unidentified person gained access to the tarmac.

It added that “the pedestrian jumped the perimeter fence and was hit two minutes later while crossing the road”.
A brief engine fire followed the collision, which was extinguished by emergency responders, according to the airport.
It said 12 of the 231 people on board suffered minor injuries, and five were hospitalized.
The airport said that investigators searched the fence where the man had entered and “found that he was not there”.
It added that the victim was “not believed to be an airport employee”.
“We are deeply saddened by this incident and express our gratitude to those affected,” the airport said.
Local authorities and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the incident.
The Frontier Airlines flight was bound for Los Angeles International Airport.
US airport security was reviewed earlier this year among a long term closure of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which temporarily left Transportation Security Agents (TSA) and air traffic controllers working without pay.
Although incidents of people being killed at airports are rare, Friday’s incident happened one day after a Delta employee was killed when an airport shuttle crashed into the airport at Orlando International Airport.
In March, two pilots were to be killed after an Air Canada Express plane hit a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport in New York.
About 225,000 people travel through Denver International Airport per day.
