Cook points out the lack of computing in part to demand from AI enthusiasts who run local models on Mac hardware-The low power consumption of Apple Silicon, good performance, and the pool of memory available with both CPU and GPU have made them popular among these consumers. Combine this with the fact that replacements for these computers are said to be imminent and that Apple often ends production of older models before introducing new ones, and you have the makings of a serious shortage.

The MacBook Neo is different. For one, it’s still easier to find than any desktop; one ordered now should arrive within two to three weeks. This has made headlines, but it’s the same estimate Apple gave a month ago. Although I don’t have the March data recorded, it seems to be an estimate of what Apple is offering two Months ago, shortly after Neo was launched.
And unlike desktops, the Neo is still readily available through third-party retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart. Since the Neo is a play for new Mac owners, it probably makes sense for Apple to prioritize other vendors on its storefront. And if Apple doesn’t agree with what they want, it won’t back down, as it has with the Mac mini and Studio.
That this has been stable for several weeks is disputing the sky is falling in the background about the unexpected demand, declining shares, and declining profits that have surrounded Neo in recent weeks. If the rumors are to be believed, Apple will not be able to continue offering the Neo at its current price, and should consider cutting the $599/256GB version already. If Apple is struggling to meet demand for the MacBook Neo, the company is showing few signs of it.
Other smaller ones: MacBook Air and MacBook Pro
