FIFA has warned of the negative effects of rising prices
The US state of New Jersey has reduced the price of a tour ticket for the 2026 World Cup at MetLife Stadium from $150 to $105.
The reduction comes after the old price drew criticism from the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).
Despite the reduction, the price is still much higher than the less than $15 the same trip costs on a normal day, and more than $80 for a FIFA-provided bus ticket to the 82,500-seat stadium, which will host eight World Cup matches, including the final on July 19, Reuters reported.

Last month, New Jersey Transit Authority CEO Chris Colori cited the need for increased security measures and increased ridership due to the closure of public parking lots around the stadium to justify the fare increase.
For his part, 2026 World Cup executive director Hemu Shirji said the initial price of $150 would have a “negative impact” on fans.
New Jersey Governor Mickey Sherrill said earlier that FIFA would have to cover the transportation costs because the state’s transportation company “had a $48 million bill” to keep fans safe.
