The box is there announced his own strategy to where Kobo Remote which offers more functionality than just turning the page while reading on its tablets and e-readers. Tappy can also be used to scroll through browsers or social media apps and skip to the next or previous track when listening to music or audiobooks. Available now through Boox online store and Amazon for $25.99, making it slightly cheaper than the Kobo, but Boox says the Tappy will work with more than just its own devices.
While the Kobo’s remote is reminiscent of a Wiimote-like game controller, the Tappy looks like a retro keyboard that’s been stripped down to just two keys. One key advances through the content, while the other goes back. Other keycaps can be swapped to change Tappy’s appearance, but in addition to X and O, they feature pixelated images of a heart and a hot cup of coffee. Beautiful, but of questionable description.
There’s an extra 95mAh battery inside the Tappy that should last you a few weeks if you’re not getting too excited, and it has a wireless Bluetooth range of up to 33 feet. It’s a plus for reading, but since Boox encourages you to pair the Tappy with other devices like a smartphone or laptop, it can double as a remote for your audio and custom buttons, or as a little game.
