Daniel is a very intelligent person. He’s not a braggart, and I know he took a beating because of this quiet nature.
I will wait for him. I always try to talk to him before we go to any media event, prepare him.
He doesn’t enjoy that part of the fighting game. It’s not really at all verbatim.
You look at who you are, how people act and what their makeup is. If you want to get the most out of them, that’s it.
You have to be smart, not smart about how you deal with it. Good interviewers do that. Daniel did his entire speech in the ring.
I don’t think it will ever change. His father is his mentor. And he only knows – he looks at his father before answering the question and still does.
That family is a tight-knit unit. Some boxers, when they succeed, go partying, but he does nothing.
After him Anthony defeated Joshua He just wanted to go home.
After that masterpiece, I had to put it in the printing room for the world to see.
Our job as promoters is to find something that you can bring out and present it to the public, so you want to be on this journey with this fighter.
Sometimes it is difficult. For example, it was easy with Prince Nasim Hamed. When I first met Naz, I knew exactly what I was going to do with him and how we were going to introduce him.
So some men can be introduced easily, others can be hard work, but that’s the business we’re in.
But Daniel has been out of his skin for a while now. The funniest thing for me was when he faced Filip Hrgovic a few fights ago.
Hirgovich says Daniel has no heart, and Daniel says he’s going to hit him – using an expletive I don’t want to repeat.
I had never heard Daniel swear before!
Everyone there was like, ‘What’s that?’ It was almost as if the vicar had been insulted. He got a voice from inside.
