The three-day Chester May Festival came to a dramatic close on Friday, headlined by a typically competitive Chester Cup.

Blindedbythelights comes here off an excellent prep run at Kempton in March but has finished second in the last four runs. Kempton’s second reads well and looks to have a favorable draw at stall 4.
Irish challenger Galileo Dame represented six Irish runners, three of whom were saddled by O’Brien, and had a nice preparation for it at Navan in March.
O’Brien also sent in the experienced Steyer A piece of heaven And PuturHandsTogetherThe last pulled wide of all under Billy Loughnane.
of Andrew Balding Berkshire Sundance Was an Easter Plate winner last month and if he can transfer his top form from the all-weather to the turf, he will be bang in there for the top connection.
2.35 Chester – Derby heroes Lambourn return, face eight rivals
Derby hero Lambourn Return to Chester to face eight rivals in the Group Two Huxley Stakes, including fellow Group One winners Bay City Roller.
Lambourn won the Chester Vase this time last year and had a very good win at Epsom under a great front ride from Wayne Lordan.
His season petered out, but back on the trip today and back on a track he did well last year, he deserves to be favourite.
The Bay City Roller capped off a memorable season for George Scott last year as he braved the Group One Grosker Allianz Prix von Bayern after some very good runs against some good types in France. He must give Lambourn 5lb here to win the Group One and that could prove costly.
4.10 Chester – O’Brien’s Kingstonian heads a competitive Plate field
Kingstonian Joseph O’Brien leads a very competitive Chester Plate field on debut for the yard.
Having switched from Mrs John Harrington in November, this gelding will look to hit the ground running here and will arrive at Chester still unexposed to a sensible yardage.
