The Saudi Arabian Football Federation announced today, Thursday, that German international referee Daniel Seibert has been assigned to officiate the final match of the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, which brings together… Crescent and EternityFriday night at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.
The attention of Saudi and Arab fans is directed towards this grand final, which has a special historical character. Al Hilal are looking to strengthen their record by winning the title of the most expensive domestic competition, while Al Khuloud are dreaming of an unprecedented historic achievement by winning the title in their first ever appearance in the final.
The federation confirmed through its official account on the “X” website that the final match will be led by the German referee Daniel Seibert (42 years old), who has been holding the international badge since 2016.
Seibert has extensive refereeing experience, having officiated 32 matches in Europe’s top competitions this season, including the Bundesliga, Champions League and Europa League.
Among the most notable games he officiated this season were Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich’s German Cup quarter-final against Leipzig, which were characterized by intensity and a high level of competition.
Seibert had officiated the previous three matches in the Saudi Roshan League, notably Al Hilal v Al Ittihad, which ended in Al Hilal losing by four goals last season, in addition to Al Nasr v Al Khalij and Al Qadisiya v Al Taaoon, giving him a good exposure to the atmosphere and character of Saudi football.
