Real Madrid’s Valverde was hospitalized after suffering a head injury after a fight with Tchouameni Football News

Real’s turbulent season took another turn on the eve of El Clasico when Federico Valverde was injured in a dressing room brawl.

Real Madrid’s growing rift ended when Federico Valverde and Frenchman Aurelien Tchouameni got into a clothesline brawl, which led to the Uruguayan being taken to hospital with a cut on his head, multiple club sources have said.

Real later confirmed that team captain Valverde, who was later dismissed, suffered a head injury and will be out for two weeks.

“Following the tests that our player Fede Valverde underwent today with the Real Madrid medical team, he was diagnosed with a headache,” the club said.

“Valverde is at home and doing well; he will need to rest for 10 to 14 days, according to the medical rules for this disease.”

This happened at the training ground of the Valdebebas club just one day after the dispute between the two.

A Real Madrid spokesman told the Reuters news agency that they would not comment on what happens inside the changing room, but the club later said that disciplinary action had been taken against both players.

“Real Madrid has announced that, following what happened this morning during the training session of the first team, it has decided to punish our players Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni,” he said.

“The club will announce the outcome of all these cases in due course, once the appropriate internal procedures have been completed.”

Valverde is the main player for Uruguay, who will play in Group H at the World Cup. Uruguay’s first match is against Saudi Arabia on June 15.

The 27-year-old later sent a statement on social media apologizing to the team and his supporters, but denied that things had gone wrong with his friend, saying that “during an argument” he “accidentally dropped a table”.

No injuries were reported for Tchouameni, the 26-year-old Frenchman.

The size of the field led to an emergency meeting where the senior officials met, without the players leaving the training ground for an hour.

His goal was to try to resolve the conflict that has caused panic and division at a difficult time for the team.

The uproar follows another incident earlier this week in which defender Alvaro Carreras admitted to a heated argument with a team-mate but insisted it was “one pointless incident that has been resolved” after Spanish media reported an incident between him and Germany defender Antonio Ruediger.

The season in Madrid has changed in several ways. Coach Xabi Alonso was sacked midway through the campaign, and his replacement Alvaro Arbeloa has failed to prevent the team from going a second consecutive year without a trophy.

Following a Champions League quarterfinal exit to Bayern Munich, Real trail La Liga leaders Barcelona by 11 points with four games remaining. The teams meet at Camp Nou on Sunday in a Clasico that could seal the title for the Catalans.

Putting the Madrid giants to shame, over 33 million people have signed up joined the petition demanding the sale of French international Kylian Mbappe.

The striker, who arrived from Paris Saint-Germain just two seasons ago, is on the mend, but has been criticized for leaving Spain for a holiday in Italy to continue his rehabilitation.

It is unclear whether Mbappe will be fit to return for Sunday’s game at Barcelona.
