Valverde breaks his silence. Choamini didn’t hit me… and there are story tellers

Federico Valverde has broken his silence to officially comment on the latest crisis between him and his partner Aurelien Choumini in the Real Madrid camp, stressing that what happened was “grossly exaggerated” while completely denying that there was a mutual attack between them.

The Uruguayan star made a statement about the incident on his Instagram page. This is his text.

Yesterday, my teammate and I had a game-related mishap during practice, where competitive fatigue and frustration magnified everything.

In a normal locker room, these things can happen and be resolved between us without going out on the field.

It is clear that there are those here who are quick to pass on stories, and apart from a trophy-less season where Madrid is always under the microscope, everything is exaggerated.

 

 

Today we had another misunderstanding and during the discussion I accidentally bumped into the table causing a small gash on my forehead which required a protocol visit to the hospital.

My partner never hit me, neither did I, although I understand that it is easier for you to believe that we exchanged blows, or that it was intentional, but it did not happen.

I’m sorry that my anger at the situation and my frustration at seeing some of us reach the end of the season doing the best we can with the last bit of energy has influenced me to the point of arguing with a colleague.

I’m sorry, I’m sorry with all my heart, because the situation hurts me, and the moment we’re going through hurts me.

Real Madrid is one of the most important things in my life and I cannot stand still.

The result is an accumulation of things that ends in a pointless argument that damages my image, leaves room for suspicion to invent lies and slander, and spices up the accident.

I have no doubt that the contact that can occur outside the stadium ends up inside it, and if I had to defend a colleague inside the stadium, I would be the first to do so.

I wasn’t going to talk until the end of the season because we were knocked out of the Champions League and I held back my anger and frustration.

We lost another year and I wasn’t in a position to post on social media when the only face I had to show was on the pitch and I feel like I’ve done that.

That is why I am the most hurt and saddened by this situation, which prevents me from playing the next game on the doctor’s order, because I have always fought to the end, to the extreme consequences, and it hurts me even more to not be able to do that.

I am at the disposal of the club and my teammates to cooperate in any decision they deem necessary. Thank you all.
